Maharashtra NEET UG COUNSELLING & ADMISSION 2025

Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is a 5.5-year undergraduate degree in Maharashtra, which includes 4.5 years of academic study followed by a 1-year compulsory internship. The course is based on Ayurveda, India’s traditional system of medicine, and covers subjects such as Ayurvedic principles, anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, surgery, and modern medical sciences.

Admission to BAMS colleges in Maharashtra is primarily through the NEET-UG examination, followed by state-level counselling conducted by the Maharashtra State CET Cell. Only candidates who qualify NEET-UG are eligible to participate in the counselling process.

Maharashtra has a large number of government, aided, and private Ayurvedic colleges, making it one of the leading states for BAMS education in India. Graduates can work as Ayurvedic doctors, pursue higher studies such as MD/MS (Ayurveda), or build careers in hospitals, clinics, wellness centres, research, teaching, and the pharmaceutical or herbal industry. The BAMS degree is recognized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), allowing graduates to practice Ayurveda legally across India.
